This week in Adventures in Seeing, we’ve been noticing and photographing the wondrous things in our life. We often think of wondrous moments as being once in a blue moon, special times – like seeing a sunset over the ocean or witnessing an incredible sports feat.
But, wonder is all around. Louis Armstrong said so – It’s a Wonderful World (watch the video – it can’t help but make you smile).
The participants in the class have been posting images of all kinds of wondrous things – flowers unfolding, ice crystals on windows (see above), reflections, sun drops on water, dandelion seeds, shells, window washers, dogs, crabs, and spider webs.
They have spent the past few weeks cultivating habits of openness, curiosity, and attention – all precursors to seeing wonder.
I am so grateful to be able to see what they see.
Some of you might be going through things right now that are not so wonderful. Life is fragile and can turn suddenly. At these times, it is hard to see the wonder. Yet, even in the midst of the greatest pain, wonder can be found – in tears, a touch, a kind word.
My wish is that you are able to experience it.
What a wonderful photo by Jean. Yes, wonder is all around us and by noticing the tiniest of details we are amazed as a whole new world opens up to us!
Yes, an amazing image. You have hit upon the greatest lesson that photography has given me – the ability to slow down and notice the wonders of my world.
