I had the good fortune to visit New York City this past weekend with my two lovely daughters, who both celebrate birthdays this month. It wasn’t a picture taking kind of weekend, but I did manage to sneak in a few abstracts since I and 47 others are going abstract this month. Here are a few I brought home.
Also: Visit Sherry Galey’s site, Still and All blog, beginning at Part 1 and moving through her fantastic NYC series which is up to part 8 now. Also, see Brenda Gottsabend’s urban abstracts.
Hi, Kim!
I love your NYC abstracts (especially that first one..so gorgeous!). Wish I could be taking the course with you! It sounds wonderful, and right up my alley! But, my sched is a bit jammed this time around. Next time, I hope!
And, I just love Brenda’s work. She’s one of my photographic heroes! And, I will definitely visit the other photographer/blogger you mentioned.
Have a great week!
All your New York abstracts just thrill me, Kim! I’m crazy for the first one, especially since I was in the very same place a few days earlier and it did not occur to me at all to get such a shot. You showed me those flags through your eyes, your creativity and your sensibility. And I love that. And thank you for pointing me to Brenda’s work as well. I had hoped to get up on the BB myself but ran out of time…so I appreciate what she is sharing from that vantage point. And finally thank you for mentioning my New York series. I had such a blast making the images and then creating posts around them. I’m so gratified to know that others are finding them an interesting view of the city.
I love your abstract on flag impressions. They remind me of candy cane! I also love the hallway shot with the lines going in different directions.
I’ve been following Sherry’s very lovely photographs of NYC and will go and visit Brenda’s “Walking the Brooklyn Bridge” shots.
Kim – Oh, yes – I adore your flag impressions – it does have a wonderful candy-cane/Christmas vibe to it. I enjoyed seeing NYC through your eyes. And I am SO very grateful for the shout-out to my NYC pics – thanks for that!
I’m just sorry I didn’t have a chance to walk the Brooklyn Bridge and see what you saw.
Great to read that you visited my city! I’m currently in Arizona, but any time you visit NYC and have some time…I’d love to hook up!
Yes, that would be nice!
