All of our weekly words come from David Whyte’s book, Consolations (paid link).
Some of my best relationships have come from sharing our despair.
“Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.”
Beautiful image to go with this poem. I’m not much of a poetry reader, but I did pick up a copy of Mary Oliver’s poems at the library this week. I sit outside each day and read one of her poems. I must say she has a beautiful way with words.
