Caprese Salad

Caprese Salad

Have you ever noticed that the best food for you is also the best to photograph? Colour often means good for you. Yet, we often don’t eat what’s best for us for any number of reasons.

Last Tuesday, I talked about contemplation as seeing situations for the way they really are – getting to the root of the matter. Inspired by the contemplative way, my friend Tracy Stevens, a health and wellness expert, has decided to start a Facebook community on contemplative nutrition, which will address the real reasons we eat the way we do.

In her words:

What is Contemplative Nutrition?  It is an introspective, reflective look at how we nourish our Higher Selves and our bodies. It is intentional. It is unconditionally loving. It is epiphanous. It is joyful. It is mindful and purposeful. It does not stop at food – it integrates our whole selves and looks at all of the ways you feed yourself: friends, creativity, relationships, career, nature, media, rest… for optimal health and happiness.

This closed/private Facebook community is meant to encourage sharing your comments, contemplations, fears, epiphanies, frustrations, and questions. It is a place where you can feel at home, connected, and inspired to get to your goals.

We will not be counting calories or analyzing grams of fat and carbs.  Instead we will contemplate and discuss general themes like mindful and intuitive eating versus emotional eating, how gratitude and presence can feed you, and nourishing your whole and higher self first  Through the closed/private Facebook community, we will address specific topics like natural sleep and energy strategies, craving control, stress management, body image, discovering food sensitivities, dinner strategies that engender closeness, traveling and dining out strategies, and discovering your own food sensitivities.

The group is free for now.  Later, as it evolves it will be subscription-based at $15/month.

If you’re interested in joining, write to Tracy at tracy@intuitywellness.com and she will invite you into the group. I will be there!
